Palanchowk village is homeds to the 18-armed,single black stone, and 300 to 500 years old, hindu goddess Bhagwati , the protector. The Retreat is close to various other villages. Such as :

1. Pahare village: The village is named after its people who belong to the ethnic group of Pahare origin. The Pahare village is one of the two remaining village in Nepal. Members of these village have the history of bringing fresh flowers to The Bhagwati temple and still continue to do so. You can visit their houses and learn their culture and lifestyle. The time taken to visit trhe village is 1 to 3 hours depending upon your prefrence.

2. Kalinjor village: The Kalinjor village is home to the Tamangs. We provide guest with the opportunity to observe their daily routine and way of life. Duration to visit this village is approximately about 4 to 5 hours.

3. Kami village (Blacksmith): This village is homed to actual Iron-makers of Nepal, and so the name Kami village. We can show you how traditionally iron goods are made. The duration to visit this village is 3 to 4 hours.

4. Gairi Gau: The village is inhabitated by the chettri caste. These people were the actual warriors during the Malla reign. They were originally called the Chatriyas. The weapons they used by the warriors during that era, can still be found in this village. The time taken to visit the village is 3 to 5 hours depending on your convenience.

5. Satthi Ghar village: The satthi Ghar village is very close to the Retreat and has been there since the establishment of the famous Bhagwati temple. Palanchowk falls under the Satthi Ghar village development committe. A visit to this village is 30 minutes to 1 hour.
